The fact that it’s a small lathe doesn’t mean that it’s low on features or power though.

The Rikon Mini Lathe has a 12 inch swing and 16 inches between centers as standard so it’ll cope with a fair sized piece of woodturning. If you want greater turning length later on, you can just add more bed bars.

The 1/2 hp motor gives plenty of power to a six speed gearbox so it might be a mini lathe but it’s got maxi capabilities!

Here’s a helpful video overview of the Rikon Mini Lathe:

If you’re in the market, you can pick up a Rikon Mini Lathe for around $329 at Woodcraft. In addition, Woodcraft also carries Rikon Lathe Stands, as well as bed extensions and other helpful accessories.

You want an accurate digital clock movement? You’ve got to get yourself some of these – accurate to half a second every million years!

You’d be wrong. On offer at the moment, 40% off normal price, yours for just $8.00 each. I think that’s amazing.

Apparently a radio signal is sent from Colorado four times a day and the Hechinger movement re-sets itself a tiny fraction each time. It even re-sets itself for daylight savings time. Details from Clockparts here.

Fancy a big clock? How about three to three-and-a-half feet across?

The kit is American made, available in Roman or Arabic numerals and contains everything you need, hands, numbers, the lot. Normally $29.99, at the moment you can save 20% and get them for just $24.00.

Don’t worry if it says they’re still $29.99 on the front page of the site, they’re $24.00 on the order page, honest – although you might want to be quick, I don’t know how long either offer lasts.

There are ten to choose from, and not forgetting an eleventh, a 90°V, that’s just $4.95.

Only available from Woodcraft and only until 31st March so I’d suggest that if you’re short a router bit or two, now would be a great time to get them!
